KID HEROES

    Kristianna Tomlinson is seven years old.   She has always loved animals and she wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up.   She is very lucky because her Mom and Dad love animals too.  Kristianna has rescued a number of animals who were in terrible trouble.  She recently found two little orphaned kittens, George and Domino.  Domino had a very badly infected eye and needed treatment right away.  Kristianna made sure that she got the help she needed and both kittens are now happy and healthy.  They will soon be neutered.   Kristianna knows that there are too many kittens that can’t find homes and she will make sure that hers do not contribute to the overpopulation problem.

    Kristianna also rescued two ducks.   One was abandoned near her home.  Kristianna found him and brought him home.   The other duck came from a fresh-kill slaughterhouse and was about to become somebody’s dinner.  He was old and scared and very lucky that Kristianna was there when she was.  She bought him for $5.00.  Last year, at Thanksgiving, Kristianna was at the fresh-kill to buy feed for her duck when she saw a young turkey crammed in a dirty cage.  The turkey was very scared – all the animals in that awful place were scared.  She begged her mom to buy the turkey and she brought him home where he made friends with all the other animals.  Each day when Kristianna comes home from school, she plays with the ducks and turkey in their large pen.  She learned a very important lesson about animals like turkeys and ducks.  They have feelings too and they don’t want to end up on someone’s dinner plate.  They want to enjoy their lives the same as we do.  Everyone should think twice before they eat someone else!
