Dear Mr. Maran,
I recently learned that despite excellent animal protection laws in India, the abuse inflicted upon cattle transported by road to slaughter is almost unimaginable.
Cows are grossly overloaded into trucks that drive recklessly over potholes, causing them to suffocate each other and to gore and blind each other with their horns. When they arrive at the slaughterhouse, some are dead and most are injured. The surviving cattle are pulled off the trucks by ropes or by their own tails. Wounded cows are left lying at the foot of the truck, while others are forced to land on top of them.
Indian law clearly prohibits beating, kicking and overloading animals, overcrowding animals in transit, depriving animals of water, selling abused animals, and killing animals cruelly. All these laws are currently being violated.
I implore you to enforce Indias animal transport protection laws. It is only with your support that these animals can be helped. Thank you.
Sincerely,
