In recognition of "Be Kind to Animals Week" which takes place during the first week in May each year, students in the third grade at Resurrection School in Gerritsen Beach were invited to submit artwork with a theme promoting kindness to animals.
The artwork was displayed at the Dime Savings Bank of Williamsburgh on Coyle Street in Brooklyn during the month of May.
The first place winner received a $50 Savings Bond. The second place winner received the book Saving Ellie about school kids who work together to rescue an abused circus elephant. The third place winner received the book Whose Coat about a little girl who realizes where fur coats come from. Honorable Mentions received certificates of achievement.
