Honorable Peter F. Vallone
New York City Council Speaker
City Hall
New York, NY 10007
Dear Mr. Vallone:
As you know, current city law allows New York Citys carriage horses to endure horrendous living and working conditions. Horses are kept in cramped, substandard, often unsafe quarters, are forced to work grueling hours in heat and cold and in unnatural environments. I urge you to help reduce the pain and suffering of these animals by enacting reforms that include healthier temperature restrictions, shorter hours and compliance with NYC fire codes among others.
Gandhi once said "the greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." Please help make New York City great by doing what is right and providing the basics that will relieve the suffering of these animals.
Sincerely,
